The Growth of Client Blogs
Published by Barbara Baryenbruch Luhring August 17th, 2008 in 3W News.At 3W we have been educating our clients about the multi-pronged approach to getting good placement on search engines. Among several of the “prongs” that raise one’s profile on search engines are:
1) page content relevance to page title
2) regular search engine optimization efforts
3) dynamic/changing content
In reference to point number three, nothing pleases the search engines more than a regularly changing blog attached to your existing website. This year more clients than ever have jumped on the blog train and I have to say I am proud. I speak from experience when I say that it is not easy to carve out time to blog even once a week when your days are multi-tasked to the last minute. So our blogging clients as well as myself do so to varying degrees of regularity. It has been fun to keep track of!
Our most prolific client blog to date (and an early client blog) is Quick to Listen a group effort organized by Gordon McClellan of the Village Presbyterian Church. It features posts by 22 authors on subjects ranging from compassion and culture to spirituality and war. Gordon and his fellow bloggers have done a great job in creating a dynamic online community that extends the reach of the Village Presbyterian Church’s community.
Our most prolific individual blogger to date has been Sarah Sawyer of Egg Harbor Lodge. In a very short time (Sarah began blogging May 31, 2008) Sarah has educated and informed her readers about Door County in general and her community Egg Harbor in particular. It’s personal, engaging and perfect for a family owned lodging business. Many of the Lodge’s guests are return visitors and enjoy the aspect of keeping up with Sarah while they are not in Door County.
Those are just two of our adventurous blogging clients. I am going to list them all at the end of this post and mention that more are being added. And even if you aren’t able to blog regularly, using blogging software (we use WordPress) to announce specials, new products, new personnel, etc. is utilizing the very powerful tool of RSS. RSS allows your blog readers to subscribe to your content through email or through an RSS reader or aggregator, guaranteeing interested eyes on your content as soon as you post it!
All that and a search engine bump too.
So don’t shy away from adding a blog to your existing website. It’s your connection to the clients you have now and the clients it will attract for you in the future. Check out these 3W client blogs:
